TOTC GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
OCTOBER 1, 2009 AT BRUNOÕS
President
Kathleen McCullough called the meeting to order at 6:45 PM.
A
drawing for the Third Quarter Prize was held and Kevin Corbell was the winner.
MINUTES
OF THE LAST MEETING: A motion was made, seconded and approved to dispense with
the reading of the minutes of the September meeting.
REPORT
OF PRESIDENT: Kathleen thanked everyone in the club for their support after the
death of her father.
REPORT
OF SECRETARY: No formal report.
REPORT
OF THE TREASURER: Treasurer Don Etheridge reported that we are in the black for
the year and that the clubÕs financial condition remains sound. DonÕs report was approved. A full copy of the financial report is
available to any member upon request.
REPORT
OF THE VICE PRESIDENT: Vice
President Mary Jenkins said that our next General Membership Meeting would be
at Lucky Dog Park. Several TOTC
members who attended the recent Julie Hill seminar will share what they
learned. Mary also reported that
the Annual Meeting and Awards banquet would be on December 17th this year. She is in the process of finalizing the
location.
REPORT
OF THE TRAINING DIRECTOR: Training Director Robin Visniski said that the Meet
& Greet and demonstration the Tuesday before was very successful. The class participants got to see other
activities they could do once they get their basic obedience down. Robin needed teachers for the Pet and
Puppy classes that were to start @ 7:45 on October 6. Once that session gets started we will have a Meet &
Greet and demo for them on the 3rd week too. Robin reminded everyone that to be recognized at the banquet
she has to have your titles and competition results. She reminded the group that beginning in 2010 Pet and Puppy
classes will be on Tuesdays at 6:30 only.
We decided to drop the 7:45 sessions because they werenÕt popular
enough.
REPORT
OF THE TRAINING SECRETARY: Training Secretary Carl Strange said that the Meet
& Greet was fun and he thought it was very successful. He commended June Cook, Don Etheridge
and himself for calling everyone about the Annual Picnic. It really helped bring more people out
that night!
COMMITTEES:
Obedience
& Rally Trials, October 10, 2009, Canton, TX Š Don Etheridge reported that
we were down one judge and he was trying (frantically) to find a replacement. Anyone available to help TTKC set up is
welcome to come out to the Trades Day area in Canton on Thursday
afternoon. Those who are going to
Steward the shows need to wear white shirts and dark pants on the day. Don will also be working out mat
placement on Friday the 9th and anyone available to help is welcome to meet him
in Canton around 11:00 AM.
Kathleen McCullough said she had all of the prizes set except the ones
that individuals were providing.
Anyone giving a special or breed prize needed to contact her if they
hadnÕt already delivered their prize.
Tracking
Seminar, November 21 & 22, 2009 Š Cheryl Etheridge reported that there were
still 3 working spots left. For
the 2 day seminar the member price is $100. Audit spots are $50 for members and non-members.
Nominating
Committee Š Karen Riley, Mary Jenkins & Cheryl Etheridge have been working
on recommendations for 2010 TOTC officers. They will present their recommended slate of officers at the
November General Membership Meeting and any additional nominations will be
taken from the floor. The election
will be held at the Annual Meeting and Banquet on December 17. Carl Strange is in charge of the
Sportsmanship Award for this year since he won in 2008. He will provide ballots for people to
vote for their choice. A list of
prior winners (who cannot receive the award again) will be available. He will present the award at the
December meeting.
Tyler
Christmas Parade, December 3, 2009 Š Robin Visniski said that we would meet
behind the Salvation Army building.
Wear your TOTC shirts or sweatshirts. If you donÕt have a lighted collar for your dog to wear
contact Robin. This parade is not
a long walk but the crowd can get close so only dogs that can handle crowds and
strangers coming up to them should participate in this activity.
Agility
Trials, February 21 & 22, 2010 and May 15 & 16, 2010 at Texas Rose
Horse Park Š Cheryl Etheridge said she has engaged 2 of the judges. She still needs someone to volunteer to
be in charge of Ribbons and Prizes.
UNFINISHED
BUSINESS:
East
Texas State Fair, September 30, 2009 Š
Mary Jenkins reported that there were lots of Agility participants but
that we didnÕt get to show off Rally as much as she would have liked. However, everything went off well. The crowds were excellent and she felt
we got some good PR. Kevin Corbell
took pictures and Don Etheridge MCÕd.
